Miami Dolphins Sign Wide Receiver Brice Butler

An avid sports fan, Craig Gelband counts the Miami Dolphins as his favorite National Football League (NFL) team.

In an effort to bolster its wide receiver depth following injuries to DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant, the Dolphins signed veteran free agent Brice Butler on November 14. Butler had previously played with the Dallas Cowboys, but was released by the team after it acquired Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders.

A 28-year-old native of Norcross, Georgia, Butler was originally selected by the Raiders in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of San Diego State University. He spent two seasons with Oakland before he was dealt to the Cowboys in September 2015. He was held without a catch this season in his first two games, but registered at least 200 receiving yards in four of his first five seasons in the league. Through 63 career regular season games, Butler has 73 catches for 1,177 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns.
